LAURA MARTORANO Laura Martorano, the daughter of Thomas and Jennie Martorano of Pittsgrove, New Jersey, has been named Cougar of the Month for December 2009. In school Laura is a serious and determined student, and strives to excel in all her subjects. She served this year as vice president of the Drama club, and has been involved in the production of school plays. Outside of school, Laura is very dedicated to community service, traveling to New Orleans to revitalize an elementary school. She plans to return to help build a house for a family in need. Laura is an avid reader and enjoys riding horses, playing softball and, in her spare time learning to read Braille. After graduation, Laura plans to attend college and become a teacher for the blind and visually impaired. Congratulations Laura! TIMOTHY JOYCE Tim Joyce, the son of Charles and Rebecca Joyce of Pittsgrove, New Jersey has been named Cougar of the Month for December 2009. In school, Tim has been involved in many sports including varsity swimming in his freshmen and sophomore year and tennis during his freshmen year. He ran varsity track sophomore through senior year, and varsity winter track his junior and senior year. For cross-country, Tim was a Tri-County first team All Star junior year and made second team his senior year. Tim served as captain this year and was awarded the coach’s award at the season’s end. His school activities include Blood Mobile, Relay for Life, National Honor Society, and tutoring after school. Outside of school, Tim is involved in his church’s youth group and is a student leader for the youth program. He has held Bible studies for high school students in his home, belongs to a Guys Group through the church and plays on the church softball and basketball leagues. He serves as the youth representative to the church’s administrative board and has been involved in numerous mission trips over the past summers. Tim plans to attend a 4-year college and major in Christian Ministries and become a Youth Pastor. Congratulations Tim! |
