  • Cougar Madness - Spirit Week
    Leading up to the Annual GREEN AND GOLD competition students competed to earn Spirit Points by showing their School Pride. The Seniors and Freshmen worked together and won first place (20 points each) while the Juniors and Sophomores teamed up to earn second place (15 points each).

    The Sophomores won the soda tab collection which was delivered to CHOPS (20 points). Second place went to the Freshmen (15 points), the Seniors won third place (10 points) with the Juniors coming in fourth place (5 points).

  • Class Display Cases
    Each class has been given a display case by the school cafeteria and criteria for decorating their display case. Staff then voted on these displays. 
    The Junior Class won 1st place in the Class Display Case competition. The Sophomore Class took 2nd place, the Senior Class earned 3rd place, followed by the Freshman Class in 4th place.

  • April Cougars of the Month
    Ashley Marie Rivera was born on November 3, 1992 to Joselito and Alexandra.   Ashley was born at Cooper Hospital in Camden New Jersey.  She is the oldest of her two siblings Alexandra and Johnathon.  She is very intelligent girl that is a very hard worker, and helpful towards people.  Ashely has stated that she enjoys helping people in need in her spare time.  Her favorite hobbies are drawing, singing, dancing, shopping.

    Out of school, Ashley works at ABC Produce/Deli in Millville in New Jersey.  She plans to continue her education at Camden Community College to become an RN.  In the future, she she plans to work at St. Jude in Philadelphia as a RN.

    Larry Ballard III was born on May 12, 1994 to Dawn Lynskey and Larry Ballard Jr.. He has lived in Pittsgrove for the past 6 years and attended P.T.M.S. and Schalick High School. At the age of 6 Larry began playing baseball in Galloway Township and has loved playing ever since. He currently works part time at McDonalds in Vineland and loves working there. In school Larry is an honor roll student who is dedicated to his work and focuses on maintaining academic strength and excellence. Larry plans to attend Gloucester County College and major in Criminal Justice. He plans to complete his degree at Richard Stockton College of N.J. After college he wants to become a N.J. State Police Officer. But as for now, he is focusing on school and work during the week, and upgrading his car on the weekends. He wants to enjoy the rest of his time as a senior but is eager to start his career.

    March Cougars of the Month

    Megan Boyle was born on February 10, 1994 to Mark and Carolyn Boyle. She has an older sister, Sarah, who graduated from Schalick in 2009. Megan is active in extracurricular activities including: cross country, for which she was a captain this past year, varsity winter and spring track, Student Council secretary for the Senior class, president of the National Honor Society, relay for life,  and an active member in the drama club. Megan has performed in Schalick’s past two musicals as leads: “Frenchy” in Grease, and “Amber Von Tussle” in Hairspray. In her spare time, Megan enjoys volunteering, reading, and traveling. She plans to continue her education at the University of Pittsburgh where she will be majoring in Pre-Physical Therapy.


    Jose “Jody” Cardona was born to Joe Cardona and Joellen Collins-Cardona on March 15, 1994. He has four younger brothers, Daniel, Collin, Thomas and Quinn and his family is in the process of adopting a four-year old girl named Taylor. He spends a lot of time helping care for his younger siblings and is a great role model for them.

     Jody is a three-year member of the Theatre Academy where he has participated in numerous productions. Some of his favorite roles have been Algernon in the Importance of Being Earnest, the Wizard in Once Upon a Mattress and Vince Fontaine in Grease. He most recently appeared as Edna Turnblad in Hairspray.

    In addition to being on the stage, Jody spent two years on the track and field team and is a four-year member of the marching band and concert band. He currently serves as a mentor to three students at Olivet.

     Outside of school, Jody enjoys gaming and works at The Bistro on Broad St. He plans to attend Camden County College in the fall to study Computer Information Systems.

Student Highlights

Schalick High School's gym is getting a face lift thanks to Ms. Brown's ideas and some of our talented students.  This is just the beginning!
